Remembering LTC Ferdinand Ora Barger Jr.

LTC Barger was a Psychological Operations Officer (MOS: 9305)
He was attached to a psychological warfare advisor team and known to prefer working in the field rather than the office. He was noted for frequently traveling to remote villages to assist in PSYWAR missions.
He was killed in action when the truck he was operating entered an ambush of small arms fire on highway QL-1, between the village of Mo Duc and the city of Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. For his actions in Vietnam, he would be awarded the Legion of Merit and Purple Heart posthumously.
In addition, LTC Barger was a Silver Star recipient and veteran of the Korean War.
His name is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., at Panel W45, Line 35.
A plaque and classroom are dedicated in his honor within the 3rd PSYOP BN (A) footprint.
